| pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | The insects are responsible for great losses in Agriculture. In the attempt to control them, new alternatives that are not based on agrochemicals have been searched. In the coevolution involving plants and insects, the plants developed defense mechanisms against the attack of insects. Amongst these mechanisms the production of protease inhibitors is distinguished. It is postulated that, when a plant is attacked or wound, it favors an increase in the levels of proteases inhibitors in the wounded region (local response) and or all over the plant (systemic response). In this insect-plant interaction, the insects can develop defense mechanisms against the protease inhibitors produced by the plant. This possibility demands a closer study of thebehavior of the mid intestine proteolytic enzymes of the insects, starting from the chronic ingestion of protease inhibitors at the moment of the attack to the plant. Many investigations have been demonstrating the potential of proteases inhibitors in compromising insect development. An important plague in the soy culture is the lepidoptera Anticarsia gemmatalis (Hübner). In this context the present work was based on verifying to the behavioral effects, in the post-embryonic development and in the A.gemmatalis digestive proteases after the ingestion of the serine-proteases inhibitor, benzamidine, sprayed on soy plants of the CAC-1 variety and its triple-null genotype, in six different concentrations: 0.0, 0.15, 0.30, 0.45, 0.60 and 0.75%. The benzamidine intervened in the behavioral response of Anticarsia gemmatalis larvae and butterflies, which had preference for plants that had not been sprayed with benzamidina. The post-embryonic development was also affected reducing the weight gain and increasing the mortality. Anticarsia gemmatalis in situation of chronic inhibitor ingestion presented adaptative responses like a hyperproduction of sensible and/or insensitive to the trypsin-like proteases and the capacity to sintethise other proteases as it is the case of cysteine proteases. Therefore, these data suggest that the employment of proteaseinhibitors can be a promising strategy in the control of Anticarsia gemmatalis in the soy culture. | eng |
