Residual effect of herbicides on the cultivation of vegetables
Several factors can negatively affect the productivity of a crop, among them is weed interference. In their management, the use of herbicides improperly can lead to environmental contamination and carryover, that is, it can lead to intoxication of successor crops due to the persistence of herbicides in the soil. The cultivation of vegetables can occur in succession to other crops, with the possibility that previously applied herbicides may adversely affect the olive groves. In this work the effect of herbicide residues in the soil on carrot, beet and garlic crops was evaluated. The effects of tembotrione and atrazine residues isolated and mixed in the carrot and beet crop in succession to corn and the sensitivity of garlic plants to different concentrations of metribuzin and tembotrione in the soil were evaluated. It was concluded that for the conditions tested, where atrazine and tembotrione (100.8 g ha -1 ) were applied in isolation, reduction of the dry matter of the aerial part of the carrot plants and lower commercial yield of carrot roots when grown in Soil with a history of application of the atrazine + tembotrione mixture (100.8 g ha -1 ). Regarding beet, it was concluded for the conditions tested, lower growth of the beet shoot when cultivated in soil with a history of atrazine application and lower commercial productivity, a reduction in yield AA class of beet for the treatments that received the application of Atrazine, tembotrione (50.4 g ha -1 ), tembotrione (100.8 g ha -1 ) and atrazine + tembotrione (100.8 g ha -1 ). For the garlic plants, It was concluded that for the conditions tested, there is intoxication and lower growth of the garlic plants in the soil in which metribuzin was applied and that the evaluated doses of tembotrione in the soil do not cause visual symptoms of intoxication in the garlic plants, but reduce the dry matter of the aerial part and the leaf area.
