Título: | Ficcionalizando o sujeito: a metaficção historiográfica de Margaret Atwood |
Autor(es): | Gonçalves, Gracia Regina Moyano, Thiago Marcel |
This work intends to analyze the novel Vulgo Grace by Margareth Atwood into a perspective of fragility about the cha- racterization “fact/fiction”. The work is on an episode of the Canada criminal history in the 19th century, in which the main character is pivot and accomplice of a crime of passion involving her rival who is pregnant, Nancy Montgomery, and despite her, their lover, Tomas Kinnear. Atwood, through appropria- tion, recreation, parody, dissemination and until contestation of diverse sources creates a protagonist rich in nuances, emerging from overlapping of different voices. This way, the aim is a new view to the conception of the woman subject who emerges not only from the several discourses, but mainly in the interdict plane. It is perceived a negation in the sense of the historical report, once the character-narrator seems to overshadow the facts along the plot and Atwood builds her text from a mixture of intertexts of the history and of the fiction. As theoretical argumentation, studies and the new history and the post-modernist theories respond, such as those ones by Linda Hutcheon and Thomas Carmichael. |
